Those of you who came to my Metropolitan Room shows, heard me mention the writer Jack Lawrence and our email correspondence before I sang his tune, "Yes, My Darling Daughter"...sadly he passed away this week:  Jack Lawrence Obituary

The shows in New York were awesome! Thanks to the Metropolitan Room, my musicians and backup gals, director Clifford Bell, and all who attended. Riding in the taxi to my 9:45 show on Wed. night, it was pouring down rain, 35 degrees outside and I was wondering who would drag their butts to a late show...but lots of you did! It was a great show, and Friday night was even better with a packed house ready for some great music...hopefully we delivered.
Stu Hamstra creator of "Cabaret Hotline On-line" wrote: "I only was able to go to one show last week - LA based Todd Murray's CD release show on Friday night at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM, but what a fantastic show it was. Just what I needed and just the type of show I love- great vocals, wonderful songs (several written by Todd) and a full house!I couldn't stay around too long afterwards to meet Todd (and get a copy ofthe CD) but I must say, there was a little extra spring in my step as Iwalked down Sixth Avenue..." Exactly what I like to impart with my shows. Thanks Stu.

Lots of radio stations have been playing my music, over 250 to date over the last three weeks and so far I have had 7 interviews with radio show hosts. If your local jazz or standards station, or your fave internet site isn't playing my CD...how about dropping them an email? I have been overwhelmed by the station managers and hosts that have taken the time to write or call to say how much they like the music. Jim Raposa added several of my tunes to his nationally syndicated shows, "The Jim Raposa Show", "The Standards Channel", and "Frankie and Friends" adding, "The whole cd is wonderfully produced and performed.  Todd has the chops!" More later...

It has been an exciting year and it has only just begun. Stardust & SwingWith the new release of my second CD "Stardust & Swing", has come many opportunities to promote my recording and to perform live, new material that I have been living and loving for over a year as we were in production.  With lush orchestrations by Dennis McCarthy, Dan Higgins, and Ladd Mcintosh, and conducted by Dennis McCarthy at Capitol Records' Studio A, "Stardust & Swing" has come out shining.  I selected the songs for "Stardust & Swing" from a long list of favorites that give me a lift no matter how old, how new, or how often they have been recorded.  Hopefully you will agree that we have put an original stamp on all of them. I have been writing more and more so check out my two original tunes "Patricia" and "The Girl From Waco".

After my debut at The Metropolitan Room in NYC in November of '08, they asked me back so I am performing there again February 18th and 20th with awesome musicians and back-up singers. Barnes & Noble at Lincoln Center invited me for a CD release show on February 11 and more shows have been booked throughout the year. Take a look on the show schedule page and come to a show! And...my tunes are now being played on over 200 radio and web stations nationwide. Tune into your local jazz or vocal station to hear selections from "Stardust & Swing" and if you don't hear them...give them a call and suggest it!

I would love to keep you informed, so if you would, sign up for my mailing list, take a look at my links for other favorites, and check out my facebook page.

Keep a skip in your step and as the tune says, "Just remember that sunshine, always follows the rain. So Wrap Your Troubles In Dreams, and dream your troubles away."

"If the essence of cabaret is an intimate connection between a singer and the audience, then Todd Murray has the art form mastered."
—Barbara Leavy, Cabaret Scenes, November 2008

"Todd Murray offers one of the smoothest, most romantic cabaret/nightclub shows imaginable, not least because his voice — a true bass/baritone — is practically unique in this arena."
— Michael Portantiere, afterelton.com, November 2008
